A three-minute long video posted on YouTube showing a female hawker attacking a Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) officer has reportedly gone viral on social media.
In the clip, a female officer was seen talking to the hawker as they conducted a raid on unlicensed stall operators.
But the discussion turned ugly when the woman refused to give up her spot and attacked the female DBKL officer, pulling her headscarf aggressively. A group of people managed to break the fight but the hawker continued pushing for a fight.
According to the Rakyat Post, the incident took place at Taman Tasik Permaisuri in Cheras on Saturday when DBKL officers conducted an operation in the area.
Quoting its corporate planning manager Dr Ismail Stapa, the report said such incidents were a common occurrence for officers on duty.
Ismail said as many as 19 unlicensed operators set up businesses in the area, some of them taking up available parking spots.
He added that these unlicensed operators had been given a notice on Sept 16. According to him, eight operators complied with the directive from the council except the woman in the video.
“She would not comply with the officers. Instead, she reacted aggressively and obstructed the officers from carrying out their duties,” he was quoted as saying.
Ismail added that the officers had acted patiently towards the woman.
