A woman’s visit to a Marybrown outlet in Sungai Petani on Sunday turned out to be a super memorable one as she gave birth to her second child – right in the middle of the restaurant!
According to The New Straits Times, 27-year-old Nur Haslina Abdul Halim was having dinner with her husband Mohd Lufti Hussein and their one year-old son at the Amanjaya Mall branch at around 10.30pm when her water broke.
Marrybrown Aman Jaya manager Shahrizal Daud was quick to react as he instructed his female staff to form a human barrier to shield Nur Haslinah during the incident.
With the help of an off-duty nurse who happened to be nearby, Nur Haslina delivered a healthy, 2.59kg baby girl on a bench in the restaurant.
Nur Haslina told the daily at the hospital that she did not expect such an early delivery as the baby was only due on October 18.
“When my water broke, I told my husband that I was in labour and so I lay down on the long bench where we had our dinner.
“Luckily, the Marrybrown staff and a nurse who was in the area helped me during the delivery process,” she was quoted as saying.
Meanwhile, Marrybrown Group CEO Datuk Joshua Liew told The Star Online that the fast food chain will plan a grand celebration for Nur Haslina and her bundle of joy.
“Since Mohd Lufti is from Johor, Marrybrown Johor will organise a grand celebration to welcome the ‘Marrybrown Baby’ when she returns to Johor to meet her relatives,” he was quoted as saying.
Liew also told the news portal that little ‘Marrybrown Baby’ will get to host free birthday parties at any Marybrown outlet until she turns 12.
“It is a blessing for us (Marrybrown) as my mother, Datin Nancy Liew, who is also our founder, was born on Oct 2 as well,” Liew was further quoted as saying.
