A bus driver has to be prepared for anything, but we don’t think he was prepared for this.
37-year-old bus driver Mohd Zaidi Yusoff has to play the role of a midwife when one of his passengers was forced to deliver her baby in his express bus on Monday.
Mohd Zaidi told The New Straits Times that the bus was nearing Lanchang when the other passengers alerted him about the 20-something woman, who was in labour pain.
“I immediately stopped the bus by the roadside to check on her condition,” he said, adding that only then did he realise the woman was heavily pregnant.
“I then placed a pillow under her head and in about five minutes, she delivered a baby girl.”
Mohd Zaidi then continued the journey to the Lanchang rest area to wait for an ambulance. The woman and her newborn were then ferried to the Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah Hospital near Temerloh for treatment.
