A woman was electrocuted to death last week while talking on her mobile phone as it was charging.
According to The Star Online, the woman, Suhana Mohamad, 30, had been at her home in Taman Desa Baiduri when it happened at 11.30pm on Friday.
Her husband, Raja Asri Raja Mat, a policeman with the federal police’s Special Branch Counter-Terrorism unit, had been asleep at the time of the incident.
Media reports say the mother of two had died on her birthday.
She was rushed to Hospital Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (HUKM) but was pronounced dead upon arrival.
A mobile phone expert and co-founder of tech website SoyaCincau.com, Amin Ashaari, told the portal in a separate report that using uncertified accessories could be deadly.
“From the gadget and device perspective, it is generally unsafe to use products that are not (recommended) by your reputable brand. People usually buy the cheapest cable (such as a charger) but that could have its effects,” he was quoted as saying.
