Woman drags son along for suicide jump from 32nd floor

Looking to end her life, a woman allegedly dragged her three-year-old son and jumped off the 32nd floor of an apartment building in Bukit Jalil on Wednesday.

According to a report by The New Straits Times, the incident happened at the Kiara Residence 2 condominium at Bukit Jalil at around 2pm.

Cheras police chief Assistant Commissioner Chong Kok Sin told the daily that the family were in their apartment unit on the ninth floor when the woman, identified as 23-year-old Choo Kai Lun, told her husband that she wanted to take the garbage out.

The couple’s son reportedly tagged along.

Moments later, the woman’s husband heard a loud noise from below and when he rushed outside to look, he reportedly saw the bodies of his wife and son sprawled on a balcony on the first floor.

Choo and her son died on the spot due to head and bodily injuries.

The police reportedly found Choo’s mobile phone on the 32nd floor of the apartment building.

ACP Chong told The New Straits Times that Choo had been suffering from depression and had reportedly undergone psychiatric treatment back in May this year.

“According to the husband, the victim had frequently told him about committing suicide with their son,” he was quoted as saying.

The bodies were sent to the Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia Medical Centre for a post-mortem.
