An elderly woman was reported to have jumped off her apartment because she was in pain.
According to a report by Free Malaysia Today, the 80-year-old woman leaped off the fifth floor of her unit at PPR Kampung Baru Air Panas, Setapak on Sunday, at 10pm.
FMT said the woman had been experiencing pain, brought on by old age, and has complained to her neighbours frequently about her inability to withstand it any longer.
It became so bad that she even reportedly spoke of committing suicide.
The report said that the woman — who had been living on the third floor — had put on a blindfold before taking the fatal leap after her son and husband had gone to sleep.
“She started wearing hearing aids when her hearing deteriorated. She became depressed since then. That may also be why she was feeling pressured,” the woman’s 57-year-old son told FMT.
