Who would’ve thought one of the country’s most prominent bankers (and the brother of Prime Minister Najib Razak) had the time to watch HBO?
Apparently, CIMB Group chairperson Nazir Razak has tuned in to Game of Thrones at least once or twice, to have made this pop culture reference in his latest Instagram post:
You Win or You Die, indeed.
We assume he’s referring to the latest developments in Malaysian politics, with the ouster of former Deputy Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin and the ascension of his successor Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi in yesterday’s surprise Cabinet reshuffle, and the joslting between the country’s elected officials in order to escape PM Najib’s axe. (Wait, is he saying Muhyiddin is like Lord Eddard Stark of Winterfell?)
Or he could just be a really big fan of pointy chairs.
Still, if Malaysian politics really is like Westeros, who would Nazir be? We’d place him as a Lord Varys at this point, but we’d love to hear your casting take.
