Kelantanese singer Rosalinda, notorious for her grammatically-explosive viral music video “Welcome to Malaysia” (which, it turns out, was a rehash of a Thai tourism song), was fined RM1,000 by the Gua Musang Syariah Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday after she pleaded guilty to a charge of indecent dressing during a performance last month.
The singer, whose real name is Shahima Edayu Akma Mohd Alwi, 23, was arrested on May 7 after a performance in Felda Aring Enam in Kelantan.
According to a report by Sinar Harian‘s Alaudin Ma, during his sentencing judge Zubaidi Sulaiman advised Rosalinda to refrain from performing in a provocative manner, as it would tarnish the image of Islam and drive members of her audience to sin.
