Water woes: 57,000 homes in Selangor to get cut tonight

56,884 homes in Hulu Langat and Sepang will be experiencing water cuts for 36 hours beginning 8pm tonight, as emergency exercises kick off to repair damaged water pipes.

The main pipe in need of repair is supplied by the Semenyih Water Treatment Plant and is managed by Konsortium ABASS Sdn Bhd, said the Selangor Water Supply Company Sdn Bhd (Syabas) in a statement yesterday.

44,661 homes located in 54 areas in the Hulu Langat district will be affected by the water cuts, including Section 6, Bandar Baru Bangi; Bandar Sri Putra, Bangi; Taman Impian Putra; Taman Bangi Villa; Taman Bangi Indah; Bandar Bukit Mahkota, Pekan Bangi Lama, Desa Mahkota Bangi; Mutiara Bangi; and Taman Jernang Jaya.

Another 12,223 homes in 15 areas in the Sepang district will also be affected, including Taman Warisan Bestari; Bandar Baru Salak Tinggi; Taman Kenanga; Kota Warisan; Taman Bunga Raya, Taman Mawar (1,2, Perdana, Emas Villa); Taman Dahlia; Taman Seroja; Taman Ixora; Kampung Geching Hulu; Desa Salak Permai, Taman Anggerik; Jenderam Hilir; and Sungai Buah.

Sinar Harian reports that Syabas will be deploying water supply trucks to distribute water to affected areas during the water cuts.

Syabas reminds users in affected areas to prepare for the water shortage by conserving water and to use their reserves sparingly and wisely. That means no giving your Myvi a wash until at least the weekend, folks.
