Water and air filter saleswoman says individual posing as female customer raped her

A Johor-area woman who sells water and air filters filed a police report earlier this week alleging that one of her potential customers lured her into thinking he was a female over WhatsApp, only to later allegedly rape her when the two were alone.

The unnamed woman, a 43-year-old married mother from Iskandar Puteri, told officers that the suspect threatened her with a screwdriver and knife, forcing her to follow him.

Having received a WhatsApp from an individual using a woman’s name on Monday, the message expressed interest in installing water and air filters in their home. The two had decided to meet at a location, and where the victim was told an individual would pick her up and take her to an office.

When the victim arrived, she alleged that a man was waiting for her.

Telling her to come inside his yellow Myvi, she initially followed his instructions believing he was simply the driver. However, after driving to an unfamiliar area, the man stopped the car and threatened the woman. She told officers that she followed his instructions out of fear for her life.

Returning the victim to her car, she then went straight to the nearest police station and filed a report. Authorities were able to arrest the man 90 minutes later, and confirmed that the suspect had a previous criminal record pertaining to the use force to outrage the modesty of that person.
