Still reeling from the golden era of Malaysian football from the film ‘Ola Bola’?
Well, if Penang FA player Faiz Subri’s incredible goal against Pahang is anything to go by, the dream is still alive. And his name has started trending worldwide.
British news portal Independent heaped praises upon the magnificent free kick (you’ll want to keep watching that clip over and over and over, trust us), calling it an ‘outrageous’ free kick that ‘appeared to defy physics’.
“A contender for the 2016 Puskas Award (an award bestowed upon the player who scores the “most beautiful” goal of the year) was scored in the Malaysian Super League today. Faiz Subri is the man who will be in contention for the gong that recognises the best goal of the year thanks to his truly incredible free-kick,” The Independent’s Simon Rice wrote.
“Not only did the 28-year-old’s shot completely baffle the opposition goalkeeper, it appeared to defy physics as well.”
The goal was the third in a 4-1 win against Pahang.
Awesome stuff, Faiz! And here’s Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak turning into a fanboy:
