We’ve shown you this year’s crop of superhero movie trailers already, and for at least one film coming out, there seems to be no stopping one movie in particular from showing you what it’s about before it even arives in theatres.
Marvel Studios’ Captain America: The Winter Soldier looks set to continue delving into the Marvel Cinematic Universe, picking up from the events of 2012’s The Avengers and along with last year’s Iron Man 3 and Thor: The Dark World, and the upcoming Guardians of the Galaxy, setting the stage for what executive producer and continuity genius Kevin Feige has termed the movie studio’s Phase 2 … and of course, next year’s Avengers 2: The Age of Ultron.
The following two clips, one a minute long, the other a massive four minute vignette, should whet the appetite of superhero movie fans eager to start their explosion binging.
The four-minute clip features some healthy banter between Captain America (Chris Evans) and Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson) as they swoop down to foil a ship hijacking by French pirate Georges Batroc (nicely placing kooky comic book universe villain Batroc the Leaper into the grittier Marvel Cinematic Universe):
The second clip is much shorter, but features a tense chase over city rooftops/through office blocks between Cap and the titular Winter Soldier, played by Sebastian Stan … and if you cross check that name on IMDB’s entry for Captain America: The First Avenger, you’ll pretty much know who this new villain is:
Captain America: The Winter Soldier is directed by Anthony and Joe Russo, and stars Chris Evans, Scarlett Johansson, Sebastian Stan, Anthony Mackie, Samuel L Jackson, and Robert Redford. It opens in Malaysian cinemas on March 27.
