Wait, what?: 11-year old girl becomes Malaysia’s youngest mother

Malaysia has welcomed the country’s youngest registered mother, as an 11-year old reportedly gave birth to a baby boy at a private clinic in Bahau, Negeri Sembilan, this morning.

Jempol OCPD chief Superintendent Hamzah Alias told The Star Online that the girl’s grandmother took her to a private clinic when she had complained of abdominal pains.

The grandmother was shocked to have been informed by doctors at the clinic that the girl was in fact undergoing labour.

No mention was made if the girl was married, or if she herself was aware of her pregnancy prior to the visit to the clinic.

“Preliminary investigations revealed that the girl lived with her parents in Bahau. We are investigating the matter,” Superintendent Hamzah said.
