It looks like Mount Kinabalu is turning into Mount Rushmore.
An image reportedly showing a ‘face’ appearing on the surface of St John’s Peak on Mount Kinabalu has startled climbers and sparked a buzz among Netizens.
Kinabalu Park manager Yassin Miki told The Star Online that certain lighting conditions on the mountain make the ‘face’ even more obvious.
“It has to be just after sunrise. The face would then become noticeable,” he was quoted as saying.
Yassin added that the strange formation was noticeable even before last year’s deadly earthquake at the mountain which killed 18 guides and climbers.
“It has been there for some time now,” he added.
Yassin also told The Star that witnesses who have reportedly seen the formation said the ‘face’ comes complete with a set of eyes, a nose and a mouth.
