While the townsfolk of Bachok, Kelantan may have thought it was their lucky day when a lorry overturned, dumping 1,500 packages of condensed milk onto their streets, the driver is now asking all of those who descended upon the spilled diabetic milk from the heavens for their own free gift to please return what is not theirs.

Initially, the driver of the lorry tried to stop the public from taking the tins, but as footage from the incident posted to Facebook indicates, people weren’t really listening, or helping the driver, as much as grabbing what they could carry.
According to Harian Metro, witnesses report that an individual at the scene claimed to be the owner of the transportation company, and told the public, against anyone’s better judgement or common sense, that they could take the condensed milk in the Wednesday incident.

Lorry workers were only able to salvage 149 cartons from the 1,500 they were transporting, along with 11 solo cans. The rest were taken by the townsfolk.

The owner of the lorry, who also happens to be the father of the driver who sustained minor injuries in the 2am incident, has now asked the honest folk of Bachok to come forward and return the tins they took. Lost goods have to be accounted for, and he is on the hook for RM120,000 (US$30,000) over all of the lost milk.

According to Malay-language portal The Reporter, he has even gone as far as saying locals can leave the tins on his doorstep or at the accident site, no questions asked.
Police say they have yet to receive a report on the incident, and have urged the lorry owner to come forward and file a claim, so that the matter can be properly investigated.
