An unnamed, 33-year-old woman shocked hospital staff, patients, and visitors when she leapt off the fifth-floor ledge of Sultanah Bahiyah Hospital, in Kedah, yesterday afternoon.
She survived the fall, landing on the rooftop of the second floor, and is currently being treated for a broken backbone. She is in stable condition.
A 22-second video of the incident has gone viral across social media. The clip shows the woman standing on the ledge, hesitating momentarily, and then suddenly jumping when nurses tried to approach her. You can watch the video here, if you are so inclined.
Police have said that the woman was visiting a friend, who is currently a patient at the hospital. The incident occurred at 5:30pm, during the visiting hours.
