VIDEO: Wanita UMNO member’s rant against PM Najib’s “lies” goes viral

Wanita UMNO members can often be some of the ruling party’s most vociferous public speakers, but very rarely in this context: a member of the women’s wing’s Langkawi chapter has been caught on video screaming invective statements against party president and Prime Minister Najib Razak.

Facebook user Mohd Hanizam Bin Yunus uploaded the video, 2:51 long, depicting Wanita UMNO member Anina Saaduddin railing against Najib at a meeting attended by members of the movement, claiming that the PM had been lying to UMNO’s three million members during his tenure as premier.

“Why do you lie to three million Umno members? The party president had lied to us. Don’t say three million members support you. I hope the supreme council sends Najib pergi berubat (go for medical treatment),” she said.

However, Anina was quick to profess her continuing loyalty to the party, despite her misgivings for the party president.

“I support BN. For God, I am an Umno member. No matter what happens, I will vote for BN. I am critical because I love BN. I love Umno. Do not question my loyalty to BN and Umno.

“But you can see our president is lying to us every day. On television, he is talking nonsense.”

She did not, however, explicitly what Najib had lied to UMNO members about.

At the time of this writing, the video has already been shared 8,529 times, with more than 236,000 views since it was put up yesterday.

Najib has been under intense scrutiny and criticism over his controversial handling of the case surrounding sovereign development fund 1MDB, and the administrative decisions he has made in connection to it, including but not limited to the sacking of former Deputy Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin in a Cabinet reshuffle two weeks ago.

Muhyiddin still retains his position as UMNO deputy president, and holds considerable sway among the party’s grassroots.
