A video showing a Year Six student brutally bashing up his schoolmate has gone viral online, shocking Netizens.
According to media reports, the video was recorded on August 30 in a classroom of a religious school in Putatan, Sabah.
The two-minute 28-second clip, believed to be recorded by one of the students, found its way onto social media and has since gone viral, amassing more than one million views and shared more than 47,000 times.
During the entire duration of the clip, a schoolboy was seen punching, kicking and even strangling his schoolmate.
At one point, the boy was also seen hitting the victim, who was already on the ground, with a plastic chair.
The brutality of the attack has angered Netizens who watched the video clip, with many calling for the schoolboy’s arrest.
Meanwhile, The Star Online reports that the police have called up the two boys, who are currently sitting for their Ujian Pencapaian Sekolah Rendah (UPSR) examinations, to have their statements recorded.
Penampang district police chief Deputy Supt Rosley Hobden told the news portal that the incident started when the victim allegedly teased the bully about his late father.
Angered by the victim’s taunts, the schoolboy allegedly started hitting the victim.
Supt Rosley added that the victim’s parents lodged a police report on Tuesday.
“We have recorded the statements of both boys and the witnesses.
“The victim did not sustain any serious injury,” he was quoted as saying, adding that the police will be forwarding the investigation paper to the Deputy Public Prosecutor for further action.
