Punctured tyres or not, this thief tried to do what all thieves strive to do: outrun the cops. Except in this case, it did not go quite as planned.
A video of a high-speed chase from Jalan Sentul to Dengkil, Selangor at 1.40am on Sunday was uploaded by the Friends of PDRM Facebook page yesterday, and has since received more than 4,400 shares.
According to the New Straits Times, the suspect had tried to steal his employer’s lorry, speeding away from Jalan Sentul towards the MRR2 after ignoring orders from cops to pull over.
Sentul police chief Assistant Commissioner R. Munusamy told the daily that the man had tried to ram into the police car as well as several other vehicles on the road.
“The suspect also tried to hit construction workers who were doing roadworks but ended up ramming into a few cones,” he told the NST.
“Several gunshots were fired towards the tyres to stop the lorry. Despite the punctured tyres, the suspect refused to stop. Instead, he speeds towards South Klang Valley Expressway (SKVE),” Munusamy said adding that the vehicle eventually came to a stop.
It was later found that the thief had been high on drugs.
