A video clip purported to be of a wild police chase down Campbell Street in Georgetown, Penang, was actually of a new Hong Kong action flick The Leaker.

The road was closed off, and actors and extras used to fill the scene of a wily van careening down the narrow road, followed in hot pursuit by three police cars.

The viral clip that originally circulated failed to show the cameras filming to the side, and many shared the video, believing it to be real.

Penang Kini Press shared a clip claiming that the van had nearly taken lives, and this was shared nearly 70,000 times before people realised it was all just lights, camera, action.

Looking forward to seeing our quaint island of Penang taken over by some Hong Kong gangsters. Change it up a little from the Kollywood dance routines shot in Putrajaya.
