East Malaysia, a land of nature so vast, pristine and raw, that we city dwellers often forget that the people who live there are just as likely to see passing cars, as they are to see passing wildlife.

Residents of Limbang, Sarawak, had quite the surprise when a local tire shop near the town’s industrial zone became the chill-zone for a 16-foot crocodile, who had clearly lost its way.

The one-ton beast was spotted by shop employees at 7:30am Saturday, and they quickly contacted the Fire and Rescue department.

The Borneo Post reports that eight firemen responded, and covered the reptile’s eyes with a cloth, and then tied its legs, before using a forklift to move the croc into a truck to be driven to the Fire department’s compound.

The croc was released back into the wild later that afternoon, and by the end of the weekend, became a social media sensation, with videos of the reptile being shared via Facebook and WhatsApp.
