VIDEO: 76-year old woman dragged down Taman Paramount street by snatch thieves on bike

A video has surfaced on Malaysian social networks depicting a senior citizen being dragged down a street by snatch thieves riding a motorcycle in borad daylight.

The 43-second dashcam video uploaded to YouTube by user Hector Leong identified the license plate of the motorcycle (WYA 7395), and placed the incident at Taman Paramount in Petaling Jaya.

Ushar Daniele of the Malay Mail‘s print edition reports that the incident took place on Wednesday, and that the victim is 76-year old Seow Wah Yin.

PJ police chief ACP Azmi Abu Kassim confirmed that the incident was instigated by two youths riding a motorcycle, who attempted to grab Seow’s handbag at around 10.20am when she was crossing the road.

With the strap of her handbag still around her shoulder, Seow was dragged some 15 metres down the street as the thieves attempted to get away with their loot.

“The suspect only let go of the bag after several passers-by rushed to her aid,” Azmi said.

Police traced the license plate of the motorcycle retrieved from the dashcam video and apprehended two suspects several hours after the incident.
