How is this for coincidence?
A man from Malacca, who went to a police station to lodge a report after he was allegedly assaulted by two men following a road accident, got the shock of his life when he found out that his ‘attackers’ were policemen attached to the same police station.
According to The Star Online‘s R.S.N. Murali, the man, 31-year-old Tan Chee Teik, had gotten into a minor accident with another vehicle near Taman Merdeka at 2am on Wednesday.
Tan had reportedly offered to pay for the damage, but without warning, the driver of the other vehicle and his friend got angry and allegedly started hitting him with an object.
“A police vehicle arrived at the scene but they only watched as the two continued to attack me,” he was quoted as saying.
When Tan went to the Batu Berendam station to lodge a report later, he was shocked to see the duo who allegedly assaulted him walk into the station and were greeted by their colleagues.
On Friday, Tan reportedly lodged a second police report and this time, it caught the attention of Malacca police chief Deputy Commissioner Datuk Ramli Din.
According to the report, DCP Ramli convened a meeting at 3pm on the same day and ordered the duo, a corporal and a constable, to be detained and investigated under Section 324 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing hurt and Section 341 for wrongful restraint.
DCP Ramli also told the news portal that the other two policemen at the scene would also be investigated for failing to perform their duty.
