A Malaysian uztaz (religion teacher) has found himself in hot water, after a leaked clip of a talk he was giving made its way online, much to the chagrin of netizens.
In the video, he is heard saying that women who tak tutup aurat (who do not cover up) deserve to be sexually violated.

In response, DAP (a member of the ruling coation) Social Youth committee member Dyana Sofya Mohd Daud hit back, criticizing the ustaz in a widely-shared tweet:
Watch at 1.20 onwards. "Perempuan tak tutup aurat layak dicabul dan dizina", said this ustaz.
This USTAZ just endorsed sexual abuse against women for the way she dress. The fact that he is an educator is everything that is wrong w our constant need of cosmetic moral policing! https://t.co/ypfRhNFDr6

“Dear ustaz, the one that is dead wrong with our society is not what ppl wear but your lack of respect for consent, your abusive mentality against women, (and) you think you are right and holy to teach people.”
She added that no one deserves to be sexually violated, not even a person who decided to walk around naked, and concluding what the rest of us have determined was obvious a long time ago:
Clothes, or lack thereof, are not an indication of sexual consent.
Reports have emerged that the ustaz’s comments were made during a compulsory marriage course for Muslims who want to marry, conducted by the Federal Territories Islamic Religious Department (JAWI), last weekend (April 27 and 28).
Netizens did not hold back their disgust at the talk, coming from an authority figure:

The comments come fresh off the heels of similar sexist and dangerous messages shared by a Malaysian doctor in Australia, who found himself suspended this week after online comments he made saying that “women deserve to be raped,” among others, came to light.
