Tragedy in Shah Alam over the weekend: a tree uprooted due to strong winds, killing a golfer who had been taking shelter in a gazebo at a golf club on Sunday afternoon.
According to a report by The Malaysian Insider, the deceased — identified as Lim Tat Thuan, 68 — had been with three other golfers at the Saujana Golf and Country Club when the tree fell upon the gazebo around 5.30pm.
Kota Anggerik fire and rescue station operation chief Mohd Firdaus Zainudin was quoted as saying that the three others — a Malaysian and a couple from South Korea — escaped with minor injuries.
“The victim was crushed under the shelter and we could only reach the body after removing the fallen tree with a forklift,” he told the portal.
According to Bernama, the golfer had just finished their round of golf and were taking shelter from the heavy rain and strong winds.
