University bus lands on its side after losing control

It turned out to be quite a wild ride for 25 Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS) students when the bus they were traveling in lost control and landed on its side on Tuesday.

According to The Star Online, the driver of the bus lost control of the vehicle while heading down a hill near the campus in the 4.40pm incident.

State Fire and Rescue Services Department officer Jamaludin Hussin told the news portal that the students sustained minor bruises due to the incident.

The bus driver and a conductor also escaped with minor injuries, Jamaludin reportedly said.

He added those who were injured were rushed to the hospital where they were given outpatient treatment.

According to Jamaludin, initial investigations indicated that the bus had faulty brakes, resulting in the driver losing control of the vehicle as it was going down the slope.
