Engineers attached to Universiti Kuala Lumpur’s (UniKL) Malaysian Institute of Marine Engineering Technology (Mimet) have invented a robotic arm for a 16-year old student, who grew up with only one arm.
Wan Abdul Halim Wan Soor seemed excited to have received his new robotic arm, which features articulation at the elbow and fingers.
Even better, the UniKL Mimet team spent only RM3,150 on constructing the arm.
“Finally, my dream of having a robotic arm is a reality and I can’t wait to show it off to my friends,” he said at a press conference in UniKL today, Bernama reports.
The robotic forearm was invented by two Electrical and Marine Electronic Engineering students, Muhd Khirul Alif Muhammad, 29 and J. Kirupa Sankar, 25 under the supervision of Ahmad Makarimi Abdullah, 37.
