Sim Siak Heong, the target of Kiki Kamaruddin’s fury and steering lock in last week’s viral Kuantan road rage video, feels sorry for his attacker, following her guilty plea in court yesterday.
Now known as Uncle Sim throughout Malaysian social media, he said Kiki Kamaruddin – whose real name is Siti Fairrah Asyikin Kamaruddin – didn’t deserve the punishment meted out to her, and urged the public to forgive her.
“I feel sorry for her. She doesn’t deserve it at all,” said Sim, 68, to The Malay Mail Online‘s Ushar Daniele.
“I have forgiven her and I urge the public to do the same. There is no need to condemn her anymore.”
The Kuantan Sessions Court found Kiki guilty under Section 247 of the Penal Code, and sentenced her to a RM5,000 fine in lieu of three months’ imprisonment, and 240 hours of community work.
To her credit, Kiki has expressed remorse for her actions in the video, in which she hurled abuse and racial slurs against Sim for driving into her new Peugeot. She also seized Sim’s car keys and hit his car several times with a steering lock.
“I regret my actions and have even apologised to Uncle Sim. I was also left traumatised by the incident as people started to follow me to my house and hurl me with abusive remarks,” she said.
Judge Datuk Zainal Abidin Kamaruddin advised Kiki to control herself in the future and to behave “like a lady instead of a road bullly”.
