[VIDEO] Unbuckled child flung from car as door opens on turn

Video of a child being flung out of a moving vehicle is a stark reminder to always, always fasten your seat belt, and make sure your passengers are buckled in as well.

The incident occurred in the east coast city of Kuala Terengganu, and the 12-second clip was uploaded May 29 by a user under the name Jalur Merah.

Dashcam footage from a car sitting at an intersection shows a vehicle making a right-hand turn when suddenly, the door swings open, and a young child falls onto the road from the passenger side. Scrambling on the road, the child quickly gets up and moves to safety.

Lucky to escape with their life, police have stressed that the child was not properly fastened, as they would not have fallen out of the car had they been wearing a seat-belt – regardless of whether the door was not closed properly, or intentionally opened.

On a personal note: In our years of driving on Malaysian roads, we’ve personally bared witness to an alarming number of children who ride around without wearing seat-belts, much to the indifference of the adults that are driving. It goes without saying that not even the best driver in the world can prevent an accident from happening, and even a hard breaking could endanger any passenger not wearing their seat-belt. So, please – buckle up and remind your friends and neighbors to wear their seat-belts too. That sh*t saves lives, k?
