UMNO division leaders to meet in solidarity with PM Najib Razak on March 8

Division leaders of ruling Malay party UMNO will be meeting with their president and Prime Minister Najib Razak on March 8 to demonstrate their solidarity with the PM.

The division leaders are seeking to hold a dialogue with Najib and to “show local opposition and foreign meddlers” that core UMNO partymembers are fully behind their president.

“We want to show the world that Najib has strong grassroots support and these people should stop messing with the Barisan Nasional leader,” Cheras UMNO chief Syed Ali Alhabshee told The Star Online‘s Shira Habibu.

“So far, about 170 out of the 191 Umno division chiefs have confirmed attendance.

“We want to show that we are firmly behind the Prime Minister and that Umno is not divided as suggested by some people,” he added.

Syed Ali said they wanted to dispel preconceptions by politically-motivated rivals and foreign meddlers, who he claimed were playing “perception games” to undermine a democratically elected government and destablise Malaysia.

“We will not tolerate such psy wars. We have to nip the problem in the bud. We have seen it happenelsewhere, and we will not sit still and watch those with a sinister agenda play their nasty games here.”
