After a picture showing our national mixed doubles pair Chan Peng Soon-Goh Liu Ying arguing in public made its way online, one begs the question: are they heading for a messy break-up?
The good news is; they are not.
The Olympic darlings were actually shooting a scene for a local movie titled ‘Goodbye Mr Loser’, according to The Star Online.
Both Peng Soon and Liu Ying play a young couple in the movie, and in one scene, they were seen having a major argument in front of their flat unit.
The pair were also reportedly spotted filming several scenes with Mediacorp actor Ian Fang at the Wangsa Maju Flats on Wednesday.
The director of the film, Adrian Teh, told the news portal that Peng Soon and Liu Ying did really well, considering that both of them have never acted before.
“For first-timers, they are very natural in front of the camera. They even managed to deliver some humorous elements that we asked of them,” he was quoted by the news portal as saying.
Adrian also revealed that he had wanted the shuttlers to be in the movie even before they won the silver medal at the Rio Olympic Games two months ago.
“After watching them bring us Olympic glory, I knew that audiences would want to see more of them so I arranged for them to be in this movie together,” he was further quoted as saying.
Also in the movie is Goh V Shem, one half of the men’s doubles pair who also brought home an Olympic silver medal.
According to the news portal, V Shem plays the cousin of the main character portrayed by Fang in the movie.
‘Goodbye Mr Loser’ is slated for a Chinese New Year 2017 release, so if you want to catch our shuttlers in action, go watch the movie.
