Video chronicling the dramatic aftermath of a deadly collision Saturday on the Karak Expressway has made its way onto Facebook, and is being shared by social media users.
The three-minute clip was reportedly shot by a first responder, whose apparent response was to whip out the ‘ol mobile, and hit record.
The clip shows a dazed driver standing outside a severely damaged tour bus, and then cuts to footage from inside, where passengers appear bloodied and dazed.
The accident between a tour bus and lorry ended with the death of a Malaysian man, and the injury of 13 others, mostly Singaporean tourists returning from a sojourn in the Genting Highlands. The area, popular for its cool weather, casinos and shopping malls is 90 minutes outside of Kuala Lumpur.
Reports indicate that the bus left Genting at 1PM, snaking down the roads leading down from the area. The accident occurred at 3:30PM, with passengers telling Bernama that the bus was traveling at fast speeds when the impact occurred.
A separate clip, shared by a Singaporean road accidents Facebook group, shows the moment of impact between the bus and a gravel truck traveling in front.
Carles Lagan, the bus’s 26-year-old Malaysian conductor, was reported dead at the scene, while the co-driver, driver and passengers were treated at a nearby hospital.
Our condolences to the deceased, and we wish the others a speedy recovery.
