Over the weekend, two Melaka-area kindergarten teachers were detained while police investigate a viral video clip that showed them abusing and hitting young children under their care.
The two women, aged 21 and 40, were arrested on Saturday, after being reported by the center’s owner. Footage of the two women had begun making rounds on social media, although Utusan Online claims that the incident occurred on July 30.
Central Melaka district police chief Asst Comm Afzanizar Ahmad has said that the center has two branches, and that this incident occurred at the Cheng location, and involved four of the children enrolled there.
Two clips, one lasting for over two minutes, and the other just over 30 seconds, show the teachers hitting several students at the center.
We’ve embedded the post, but will warn you that the video is disturbing:
In the 36-second clip, a teacher slaps a child until he falls from the chair, while in the other a teacher gruffly carries a girl, and puts her on the body of a boy who was lying down.
Though no physical injuries were seen on the children, the experiences have shocked netizens, who are asking the teachers be removed from their position.
