What better way to plan the perfect crime than to put in some time working as the people who get paid to stop criminals?
That was probably the thought process of two robbers, who are also brothers, when they took up jobs serving as security guards at a school in Kepong.
The two guards-by-day and hoods-by-night, aged 21 and 23, were picked up by police after a string of break-ins and stick-ups in Sentul and Gombak were traced back to them.
The pair even possessed replica pistols that they would use to intimidate mugging victims, which they conveniently stored in the ceiling of the security booth at the school where they worked.
Sentul district police chief Assistant Commissioner R Munusamy told Harian Metro that his officers were tipped off to the pair’s nighttime activities when the fake gun, wrapped in a piece of cloth, was found on the school premises, along with a hunting knife.
The replica pistol, shaped to resemble a .38 revolver, was found yesterday morning by another member of the school’s security detail, who then passed it on to the security company’s management.
