Two UK medical students were stabbed to death after an altercation with four local men at Abell Road, Kuching, yesterday.
The two victims, both male aged 22 and 23, were found at 4.15am yesterday morning lying on the road with stab wounds in the chest and back.
Initial investigations reveal that the quarrel had taken place between the two foreign students and the local men while both parties were drinking at a nearby pub.
The Star Online reports that according to Sarawak Deputy Commissioner of Police Datuk Dr Chai Khin Chung, both parties had been drinking at different nightspots before coming across each other.
Chai said as the students left the pub, the four locals gave chase in a car, resulting in one of them exiting the vehicle to attack the victims.
Police arrived at the scene after receiving an emergency call from a restaurant worker who witnessed the altercation.
By 6am, police had apprehended three of the four suspects at their homes and seized the car, a knife and other pieces of evidence.
“We are looking for the fourth suspect.
The main suspect, aged 23, is in custody,” Chai said.
The two students had arrived in Kuchin in June to undergo practical training at a local hospital, and were due to return to the UK later this month.
