If you have been procrastinating about getting a degree or even a second degree, here’s a motivational story to get you going.
Recently, two elderly men in Malaysia sat for their end-of-semester university exam at Sultan Zainal Abidin University in Terengganu.
The university on social media shared that M. Krishnan, 77, and R. Ramesh, 56, had enrolled in the university’s four-year Bachelor of Laws program, which began in October of last year.
On Feb. 3, the best friends took their first end-of-semester paper together with the rest of the class.
The hustle
The last time Ramesh, a father of three, took an exam was for his Malaysian Higher School Certificate (STPM) in 1986, he said in an interview with Sinar Harian.
“I haven’t studied in such a long time. I struggled to adapt when I first enrolled in the course, but my lecturers and classmates gave a lot of support and assistance,” he said.
Krishnan, meanwhile, told Sinar Harian that he found it difficult to balance his obligations to his family, job, and school.
Despite the obstacles, he persisted and refused to give up in the hopes of one day becoming a lawyer.
“I will do my best to graduate with flying colours,” he said.
