It was just like the opening scenes of a horror movie.
The authorities found a mysterious tugboat sailing in waters off Dent Haven near Lahad Datu with no crew members onboard, according to a report by The New Straits Times.
A group of fishermen reportedly spotted the boat, with its engine still running, at around 3pm and alerted the Eastern Sabah Security Command.
A check by the authorities revealed that items onboard were scattered and crew members were nowhere to be found, sparking speculation that they had been abducted.
Sabah police commissioner Datuk Abdul Rashid Harun told the daily that the police are still investigating the case and he declined to comment further.
“I am waiting for confirmation. I understand that an investigation is being carried out,” he was quoted as saying.
