Traffic offenders to face arrest in Ops Warta next month

If you’ve got a thing for collecting traffic summonses (and not paying up), you might be on the traffic police’s most wanted list.

When Ops Warta takes off next month, hundreds of thousands of traffic offenders can expect to hear from the cops, The Star Online’s Austin Camoens reports.

Bukit Aman traffic chief Senior Asst Comm Datuk Mohd Fuad Abdul Latiff told the portal that there are 1.59 million arrest warrants left to act upon.

“To date, 2.49 million of the 4.09 million warrants of arrests have already been settled,” he was quoted as saying adding that the federal traffic police have worked with the EPF (Employees Provident Fund) and National Registration Department to track offenders.

“If you are stopped at a road block and we find out that you have an outstanding warrant, we will take action. There are many ways of checking for outstanding summonses so do not expect us to let you off easily,” he was quoted further.
