A traditional healer was charged before the Ampang Magistrate’s Court in Kuala Lumpur today over the death of a patient.

After hearing the charge read to her in front of Magistrate Amalina Basirah Md Top, Che Hong Chiew, 51, nodded. However, no plea was recorded because the High Court has jurisdiction over the case.

Che is alleged to have caused the death of Lim Sin Lue in the living room of a house at Taman Perdana between 4:45pm and 5:00pm on July 27.

Lim was reportedly receiving care at the healer’s home.

The traditional healer was charged under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder, which provides the death sentence upon conviction.

The court has set Oct. 13 for the commencement of the murder trial.

Deputy public prosecutor Annur Athirah Amran acted for the prosecution while Che was unrepresented.
