In an attempt to play down the negative comments about the controversial Kuala Lumpur logo, Tourism and Culture Minister Datuk Seri Nazri Aziz told The Star Online that tourists do not care about the logos of cities they were visiting.
“If people want to come to Kuala Lumpur, it won’t be because of the logo. People would come as they have heard so much about Malaysia,” he was quoted of saying.
“When I visit cities of the world, I don’t even look at their logo or how they market their cities. I don’t think it (the logo) plays an important part in trying to attract people to come to Malaysia.”
The new Kuala Lumpur logo, revealed by DBKL last month, drew a lot of hateful remarks online, due to the fact that City Hall paid RM15,000 for the amateur-ish design.
“Well, that is their money. As long as they don’t spend the money illegally or steal the money,” Nazri said when asked if spending that much money on the logo was too much.
