Eight people, including the bus driver, were injured when the tour bus they were travelling in crashed into a trailer lorry early Friday morning.
According to The New Straits Times, the incident happened at 1.30am when the bus — which was reportedly ferrying 27 passengers and was heading to Genting Highlands from Penang — slammed into the rear of a trailer lorry at the KM310.3 south-bound mark of the North-South Expressway.
Gopeng Fire Station head Nor Zamri A. Wahab told the daily that a team was immediately dispatched to the scene after receiving an emergency call at 1.42am.
“All the passengers, including the injured ones, had already emerged from the bus when firemen arrived,” he was quoted as saying.
The bus driver, who is in his 40s, reportedly suffered serious injuries when he was pinned to the seat.
“Firemen had to use special tools to help extricate the driver from his seat,” he added.
Zamri told NST that all the injured victims were sent to Tapah Hospital for treatement.
