Top cop gets chilling death threat from IS

Bukit Aman Special Branch Counter-Terrorism Division head Senior Asst Comm Datuk Ayob Khan reportedly received a chilling death threat.

The Star Online reports that SAC Ayob received a phone call from Islamic State militant Muhamad Wanndy Mohamad Jedi for his involvement in fighting terrorism and for detaining his elder brother in May this year.

However, it was not disclosed when the death threat was made.

SAC Ayob is reportedly among several Malaysian leaders, including Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar, who are said to be on the militant group’s main target list.

“They are regarding us as supportive of thagut (those who have crossed religious boundaries) and want to attack us first followed by the non-Muslims in the country,” he was quoted as saying, adding that police officers – especially those involved in anti-terrorism task forces – were also placed on the list.

Despite receiving the death threat, SAC Ayob told the news portal that he will continue to foil any terror attempts in the country.

“We have managed to quell nine plots targeting certain institutions and public areas, so far.

“This would be continued without any fear of any parties linked to terror groups,” he was further quoted as saying.

He also revealed that to date, 213 individuals – including 27 foreigners – had been detained to facilitate investigations into suspected links with terror groups.
