AirAsia’s head honcho Tony Fernandes is no stranger to taking the world by storm, be it through his award-winning budget airline, his English Premier League football club, or just his general business savvy.
The world seems to have taken notice this year, as Fernandes is listed as one of TIME Magazine’s 100 Most Influential People.
Fernandes finds himself in august company, indeed – he’s listed this year alongside statesmen like Barack Obama, Joko Widodo and Benjamin Netanyahu, and influential artists such as Kanye West, Christopher Nolan, and Björk. (Kim Kardashian and Talylor Swift are also on the list, you haters.)
The CEO of the Tune Group got a stellar testimonial from fellow airline owner and financial titan Richard Branson, who wrote: “With his strength, candor and compassion, Tony helps get AirAsia’s passengers home every day. And he continues to lead a company that has earned the trust of travelers.”
