A lorry carrying a load of bricks flipped over and spilled its contents all over Jalan Batu Caves in Gombak yesterday afternoon, blocking traffic in the area.
At around 4pm yesterday, the lorry turned over in the path of a Proton Perdana carrying a family of four, whose rear end was crushed in the ensuing commotion.
Harian Metro reports that a Selangor Fire and Rescue Department spokesperson said a team of seven officers from the Selayang Fire and Rescue station were dispatched to the scene, immediately after receiving a distress call.
“Fire and Rescue officers successfully shifted the fallen bricks away from the path of the road, thus clearing up traffic movement,” the spokesperson said.
The spokesperson also said the lorry driver was extracted from the wreckage by members of the public at the scene, and had been sent to the Selayang Hospital for treatment.
The family of four in the Proton Perdana behind the lorry was also reported have sustained only light injuries.
The Fire and Rescue Department has not ruled out human negligence as the cause of the accident.
