Disturbing news from Kuantan over the Raya holiday weekend: A young mother is alleged to have slashed the throat of her own son.
Police report that she was in a “state of hallucination,” though no further information has been given as to whether she had a pre-existing mental illness, her husband only stating that she had never sought medical treatment for any illness.
The mother, her three children and husband were at home, when she slashed the neck of her youngest son, who was less than two years old. The incident occurred in the bedroom of their home at 8:40pm Sunday night.
Hearing the commotion, her husband rushed into the room, only to find that their youngest son was badly injured. Rushing the young tot to the hospital, he died before they could reach. Hospital officials then called the police, who were alerted to the incident.
While the woman was then arrested under a murder charge, investigators are still trying to understand the events leading up to the tragic death of the young boy.
