Yet another escalator-related incident — this time, a three-year-old got his foot stuck in a gap of an escalator at the Suria KLCC mall yesterday afternoon.

The Star Online reports that the boy and his parents had been on the second floor of the mall when they got on the escalator at 7.40pm. It was then that his left foot lodged itself in the skirt of the escalator.

According to the portal, it took 10 minutes for 11 officers from the KLCC Fire and Rescue Department station to open up the metal steps and free the child.

“He was wearing shoes. But you can get stuck in that kind of space if your feet are small and if you are not careful. We handed the child over to an ambulance after we got him out. His leg was injured,” station operations commander Che Shaari Abdullah told The Star Online.

“I advise parents with small children to be wary of their kids when they are out in public in order to avoid accidents like this,” he was quoted further.
