The Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM) has arrested three individuals believed to be connected to terror attacks planned to take place in Jalan Alor and other locations throughout Kuala Lumpur, purportedly hatched by Middle Eastern fundamentalist movement Islamic State (ISIS).
Deputy Inspector-General of Police Noor Rashid Ibrahim stated the three suspects under arrest were a Malaysian, an Indonesian, and a Syrian, The Malay Mail Online reports.
It was reported yesterday that the PDRM was put on alert after receiving credible information on an imminent terror attack on the capital city, to be launched by ISIS operatives in Malaysia in retaliation for local crackdowns on its regional network here.
Police patrols were increased in Jalan Alor and areas surrounding the popular tourist locale. The US Embassy and Australian travel advisory site Smart Traveller cautioned US and Australian citizens to steer clear of Jalan Alor and other KL hotspots.
