Thinking he was a monkey, man shoots well-known activist

A prominent local activist was accidentally shot at a farm in Chemor, Perak after being mistaken for a monkey.

According to The Star Online, 63-year-old A. Lucas had reportedly climbed up a tree on Thursday morning to wrap ripening fruits when an elderly man, who was visiting his brother-in-law nearby, thought he was a monkey plucking fruits.

The 64-year-old man allegedly fired a shot in an attempt to scare away the monkey, but was shocked to hear a scream and see a man falling off the tree instead.

Realising that he had shot a man, he immediately rushed him to the Ipoh Hospital.

A. Lucas reportedly sustained injuries to his arms, but he is reportedly in a stable condition.

The news portal reported that the police are investigating the case.
