There are now more than 10,000 flood victims in Sarawak

The flood situation in Sarawak continues to worsen, with the number of flood victims in the state almost doubling in a single day. 

The official count of people affected by the floods by yesterday afternoon stood at 10,103, a drastic rise from 6,952 just yesterday morning. 

Astro Awani reports that in response to the rising number of victims, the National Security Council (MKN) increased the number of relief centres in Sarawak from 41 to 53. 

In the Kuching area alone, 34 evacuation centres were set up to handle the 6,582 victims there, the highest conentration of flood victims in the state. 

Over in the peninsula, the number of flod victims have levelled out, with 255 victims in Kelantan, and 78 in Perak.
