Judging by the terrifying video, it seems a miracle that only one motorcyclist was injured in an accident involving an ambulance and stopped cars at a Penang intersection yesterday.
On their way to pick up a patient, the driver lost control of the ambulance, and failed to stop at a red light, eventually careening into waiting vehicles at the intersection of Song Ban Kheng and Pusat Perniagaan Gemilang. The incident occurred at 8:35am.
A car with the right-of-way green light, was unable to break in time, and collided with the ambulance, that then lost control and skidded onto adjoining traffic.
New Straits Times hints that the ambulance may have been trying to “beat the red light.”
Luckily, the motorcyclist only sustained leg injuries, although two of the bikes were damaged beyond repair.
